We recently came across a kooky little website called (usefully) Creative Writing Prompts, which could be a good go-to place if you ever need a quick flash of inspiration. Some of the prompts are on the silly side, which isn’t a bad thing in our minds…
List ten things you can do with tissue paper. Pick one from the list and write about it.
Describe thirty minutes in the renewal of a friendship.
Use the following words in your story: diplomat, jacket, conference room, balloon.
Think about a thing you feel should not have been invented.
And just have fun with all these things. They might weave into your manuscript, but don’t worry if they don’t…at least you’ll have warmed up those writing muscles and you can transfer all the silly, fun writing energy over to your story.
Happy writing, Ampersanders!
